Ceramic Nonstick Care & Use Guide

Ceramic Nonstick Care & Use Guide

Ceramic nonstick cookware is a favorite in home kitchens for a reason. It helps you cook a wide range of foods, from your morning egg over-medium to stir fries to Sunday braises, without the hassle of food sticking or labor-intensive cleanup. Simply put, it’s a versatile material that helps everyday cooking feel smoother and more enjoyable.

At Our Place, we’ve innovated with that idea front and center, pulling together health and safety with great design and unique versatility. Our exclusive nonstick coating (called Thermakind®) is made without chemicals like PFAS, microplastics or lead, so you can cook with total confidence every time you turn on the stove. Whether you’re making a quick weeknight dinner or inviting the whole neighborhood over, our Always Pans, Perfect Pots, and Essentials sets are designed to inspire more memories at the table — without worrying over toxic chemicals making their way into your dishes.

This guide will show you how to cook, clean, and care for your ceramic nonstick cookware so it continues to perform beautifully for years to come.

Meet Thermakind®: Non-Toxic Nonstick Without Tradeoffs

Our cookware features Thermakind®, an exclusive non-toxic coating mainly composed of three natural ingredients: silica, water, and alcohol. It’s made without PFAS, PTFE, microplastics, and other Forever Chemicals — so it’s safe for you, your family, your home, and the planet.

Health and safety is a non-negotiable place to start, but there are some other features that make Thermakind® the best nonstick coating in the industry. It delivers an ultra-slippery, effortless release, heats your food evenly, and can be cleaned up in seconds. Which means more time at the table.

How to Cook With Ceramic Nonstick

A little care goes a long way toward keeping your ceramic nonstick cookware in great shape. Plus, these simple tips will help you get better results every time you cook.

Preheat gently. Start by preheating over low-to-medium heat for 90 seconds to bring your cookware to the appropriate temperature before adding oil, butter or fat.

Add a little oil.  Even though our Thermakind® coating is ultra-slippery, a touch of oil helps food brown evenly and adds flavor. Choose high smoke point oils like avocado, olive, or grapeseed. Skip aerosol sprays, which can leave residue and affect performance. Never heat an empty pan or pot for a prolonged period of time and always cook with oil, liquid, or fat.

Cook at medium heat. Since our ceramic nonstick cookware bodies are made from aluminum, they conduct heat quickly and efficiently, so no need to blast the heat. Plus, with moderate temperatures, your food will cook more evenly.

💡Pro Tip:

Please be sure to handle all cookware with caution. Always use oven mitts or our Hot Grips for protection

Skip the metal utensils. Wood or food-grade silicone tools are your best bet. Our Utensil Essentials, Beechwood Spatulas, and Beechwood Spoons help you cook and serve without risking damage to the nonstick coating.

Don’t forget the oven. Our ceramic nonstick cookware is oven-safe up to 232°C. Just remember: The Essentials Pan Set’s glass lids are only safe up to 218°C, and always remove any nested Beechwood utensils before placing them in the oven.

How to Clean Ceramic Nonstick

Here are three simple steps to follow when cleaning our ceramic nonstick cookware, whether it’s the Always Pan, Perfect Pot, or Essentials:

  1. Let it cool. Never rinse hot cookware under cold water — this can stress the coating and warp your cookware. Let it cool completely first.

  2. Hand wash only. Use warm, soapy water and a soft sponge. The nonstick coating cleans up quickly, no dishwasher (or elbow grease) required.

  3. Avoid harsh cleaners. Skip bleach, steel wool, and abrasive scouring pads. For stuck-on bits, soak with soapy water for 15 to 30 minutes or try a baking soda paste.

How to Keep Your Ceramic Nonstick Cookware Performing Its Best

Sometimes, just like us, your cookware needs a little reset. With a bit of regular care, your pots and pans will keep cooking smoothly and last longer. Here’s how to maintain and restore your cookware’s nonstick performance.

Give your cookware a baking soda paste refresh. Follow these steps:

  1. Sprinkle baking soda over the cooking surface

  2. Add a splash of water to form a paste

  3. Let sit for 10 to 15 minutes

  4. Gently scrub with a soft sponge, then rinse and dry

To deep clean the exterior,  mix baking soda and vinegar into a paste. Wipe clean with a soft sponge to lift residue and keep your cookware in steady rotation for years to come.

How to Store Ceramic Nonstick Cookware

Proper storage keeps your cookware protected and easy to access. Our Signature (featuring the iconic Always Pan and Perfect Pot) and Essentials collections feature some nuances on how to properly store them when not in use. Let’s break it down:

Always Pan® and Perfect Pot®

Store side by side. To preserve the nonstick surface, we don’t recommend stacking the Always Pan or Perfect Pot. Instead, store each piece on a flat surface or upright in a rack if you have one. If you do need to nest them, use a pan protector or soft cloth between pieces.

Essentials Collection

Use the organizer. Our Essentials cookware sets come with a modular organizer to keep your cookware upright and easy to reach. Simply assemble and slot each piece in — just note that the 7 qt Stock Pot and nesting strainer don’t fit in the rack.

Still want to stack? If you’re not using the organizer, you can nest pieces carefully on top of each other. Just use a soft cloth or protector in between to preserve the finish.

For All Collections

Embrace the patina. A little discoloration over time is natural. It won’t affect performance — it just means your cookware is well loved.

A Few Final Tips

  • Don’t cut food directly in the pan

  • Match the burner size to the pan base for best results

  • Hand wash only
